F.A.Q.

Who can rent a vespa from you?

Anybody aged 18 years or over with a valid car driving license (or of course also with the motorbike driving license!) and a minimum of experience can rent a vespa from us.

Which kind of vespas and other vehicles do you rent out?

We are renting out Vespa and Ape.

From the very beginning we decided to work only with the original Vespa and Ape from Piaggio and not with any other kind of scooter because we believe in the quality and the design of this typical Italian brand.

You can rent the following models from us:

  • Vespa 125 cc (your car driving license is sufficient): model 125 LX the new model Vespa Primavera 125 cc (on the market since 2014)
  • Vespa 150 (motorcycle license required ): the model 150 ET4 is as easy to handle as the vespa 125 cc, but you are allowed to drive on highways, too
  • Vespa Granturismo (motorcycle license required): Vespa 250 GT and Vespa 300 GTS

On all our vespas a second passenger is permitted.

  • Ape Calessino (a car driving license is required ): Ape Calessino 450 cc Diesel (for max 4 persons), Ape Calessino 200 cc (you can drive it also with the license A1)

Are the Vespas easy to drive or do you teach me how to drive them?

For most of the people the vespas are not difficult to drive. They are fully automatical, they don't have gears and the brakes are on the handle bars like on a bicycle. The vespa 125 cc is lighter than a motorbike but heavier than a normal scooter.

We are not a driving school and require a minimum of experience in driving at least a moped. If you don't have any experience but you are still planning a vespa vacation, please try to get some experience before renting our Vespas (you may also start with a lighter model).

Once you rent our Vespa we are happy to give you all the necessary explanations. You also have the possibility to practise within our rental space until you are safe enough to drive on public roads.

What if I come to your rental place without being able to drive a vespa?

We reserve us the right NOT to rent the vespa to you if we are feeling that you might be a risk for yourself or for others. When you are driving a motor vehicle on public roads you are responsible for your own safety and for the one of other people. Before letting you go out on public roads you must be able to control the vespa and drive it with expertise.

Is there a minimum age for renting a vespa?

Yes, you have to be at least 18 years old. We don't rent out the vespas to minors (exception: if accompanied by the parents and – of course – in possess of a valid driving license).

Which documents do you need to rent out a vespas?

You have to present yourself with your valid driving license, an identity card or passport and with a credit card (only VISA and MASTERCARD) as guarantee.

  • To drive the vespa 125 cc the car driving license is sufficient.
  • To drive the vespa 150, 250 or 300 cc you need a motorcycle license.
  • All our Ape can be driven with the car driving license.

If you have never driven an Ape before we will teach you how to do it. You can practise inside our vespa rental space until you feel comfortable enough to go out on the road.

What about insurances?

A third party liability insurance as required by Italian law is included in the rental price. The conductor is always fully responsible for the total value of a vehicle but he can purchase an extra insurance for € 10 a day to cover theft, fire and damage with a deductable of 500 Euros. The extra insurance can be purchased before you sign the rental contract.

Is there any daily mileage limit?

There is no mileage limit and you can go as far as you like within Italy.

What about the helmets?

We provide the helmets together with our vespas. We have different models, colours and sizes for you to choose from. We also have windbreakers in case of need (rain or wind) – it's all included in the rental price, of course!!

How do I have to dress for a vespa trip?

You always have to wear a helmet and we recommend stable shoes!! For security reason don't wear flip-flops or any other light shoes. You may be fined.

Apart from this you are free to wear whatever you want to. Please note that the more your skin is covered the safer you are.

Can two persons drive together on one vespa?

Yes, our vespas have the approval for two passengers. All our vespas (125cc and of course the 250 and 300 cc) are powerful enough for the uphill rides.

Can our children travel on the back?

Yes, children can be passengers. Although the Italian Law does not specify a minimum age for child passengers they have to be tall enough to reach the platform with their feet. They shouldn't be too young as they might fall asleep or not be able to hold themselves. We expect you to be an expert driver if you want to go with your child on the back.

Do you have any itineraries to recommend to us?

Yes, of course we do. It's an important part of our work to provide you with maps and information about the best and most scenic roads to discover Umbria (and Tuscany) by Vespa. We'll indicate you the nicest places where you can have a cappuccino in the morning, where you can relax and stroll around, visit local artisans or olive oil mills. We will explain you where to find the best viewpoints and other points of interest.

Your Vespa card will allow you to get an extra treatment in restaurants and bars which adhere to our programme.
Some of our Vespas have a navigation systems to help you to follow your itineraries. Please reserve it on time!

May I put my own navigator on your vespa?

Yes, of course you can. We set up most of our vespas with a 12-volt plug where you can attach your GPS without consuming its battery. You can also use the 12-volt plug to charge your mobile phone while driving.

Do you have a navigation system for your vespa?

Yes, in 2014 we added GPS for those who don't feel comfortable with road maps or don't have time to get lost during their vespa day. Our GPS guides you through the day following your precharged itinerary.

How old is your business?

We started in 2009 as the first and only vespa rental in Umbria. For two years we located in the historical centre of Agello, a very panoramic and scenic place, but it wasn't easy to reach the highest point of the village and parking was limited. That is why we decided to move to where we are now, The Oasi delle Vespe, easy to reach and with a large parking area.

Where is your headquarter and where may we leave our car?

Our headquarter is on the south-east coast of the Trasimeno Lake in Umbria, the green heart of Italy. We are right in the middle of the natural park of Trasimeno but close to the main roads. Opposite to us there is the natural park "Oasi La Valle" where you can do bird watching and find convenient accommodation. We have enough parking lots where you can leave your car while you are going on the vespa.

Are you a vespa club?

No, we are not a vespa club if even some people still believe we are. We feel very close to the Vespa Club Perugia and to all other Vespa Clubs worldwide and every "vespista" is welcome to visit us!

What about your prices?

Our prices are the best you can find in the whole area for the rental of the original Vespa from Piaggio. We maintain the same prices since 2011!

What are your opening hours?

We are open 7 days a week from March / April until end of October / mid November from 9.00 - 12.30 and from 16.00 - 19.30.

Depending on the weather conditions or due to transports or pick ups you might find our offices closed during opening hours. In this case just call us, maybe we are just some minutes away!

It is highly recommended to always call before to make sure we'll be there.

You can reach us by phone (+39.347.46.36.423 or +39.075.843062 or +39.075.5299088) and email (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ).

To be sure to find a vespa available it's always better to make a reservation, especially if you need more than just one or if you want to keep it for a longer period!

Can you deliver the vespa to my hotel or holiday home?

Yes, we can. The cost of the service depends on how far you are from us.

Another option is that we come and pick you up at your hotel and take you to our headquarter. This way you have the chance to test drive the vespa inside our gates and to choose your own helmets.

Of course, the most economical way is to come to us by car, train or bus .

We have a lot of parking space.

Can I come to you by train or bus and would you pick me up at the train station or bus stop?

We have a bus station just opposite our gates. Unfortunately the bus doesn't pass very often. You can also take the train to MAGIONE station and we will pick you up without any additional costs.
